Heol-y-Cyw Return to League Action with Tough Builth Wells Test
Heol-y-Cyw will return to league action this Saturday following a long off-season. The Cyw will make the trip to Builth Wells RFC in an interesting clash very early in the campaign. Last season for Heol-y-Cyw
Over recent years, the club has made many fantastic memories, storming Division Two West Central and earning promotion to Division One. It was a solid first season in the league last time out. They finished sixth in the table with 46 points, recording nine wins, two draws, and seven losses. It was a campaign of mixed results.
Heol-y-Cyw showed they could compete with the top of the division, securing some impressive results. The side secured an impressive 17-15 victory over Builth Wells at home and always competed, no matter the opposition. Last season was a story of heart and punching well above their weight. At times, Heol-y-Cyw took to the field with 14 players. Yet, that didn’t matter; they found a way to win.
It is going to be a tough test to start the season, but the Cyw will be looking to make a statement.
Builth Wells RFC
Builth Wells will go into the season with promotion on their minds. Having come so close last season, they will fancy their chances for the Championship this time next year. Builth were firmly in the fight for silverware, securing 12 victories, collecting 63 points and finishing with an imposing points difference. In the end, just four points separated them from champions Abercrave, underlining how close they came to reaching the summit.
On average, they scored 27.5 points and conceded 18.5 points. The club finished the season strongly, beating Aberavon Green Stars, Ystradgynlais, Nantyffyllon, and Abercrave. As previously stated, they will have title ambitions, which means every point matters.
