Ben Lloyd raring to go ahead of first full season in two years

It won’t be long until Heol-y-Cyw take to the pitch once again. The side will be in pursuit of a strong season in Division One West Central. Each player will be raring to go, including winger Ben Lloyd, a lightning-quick winger who knows how to score tries. He is a fantastic player who was born and bred in the village and gives everything to the team.

The meaning of the game

It is fascinating to see the type of hold rugby has on players’ lives, the way it intertwines with one’s very being. You can tell the sport means a lot to Lloyd, particularly the idea of working with a team.

“Rugby, to me, is all about being part of a team and working together as one unit. It’s about using my individual skill set to contribute to a stronger, more versatile squad. And, of course, it’s about looking good and scoring tries.”

Even though rugby means a tremendous amount to Lloyd, it goes deeper. He doesn’t just represent a team; he represents his home.

“Heol-y-Cyw is my home. I’ve lived here all my life, so the village, the club, the team and the community around it mean a lot to me. There’s a real sense of pride in representing where you’re from.”

Lloyd loves his home, and the club is a massive part of Heol-y-Cyw. It is a club that knows how to punch above its weight. The winger highlights the formidable spirit and the heart the club possesses.

“We’re one of the smallest clubs around. We’re just a little village compared to some of the teams we play every week, but we’ve got that dog in us. Not many teams come to Cyw and go home with a win, and that’s something special. It takes pride to represent our village.”

This season

After a solid season last time out, Heol-y-Cyw head into a fresh season ready to go. It marks Lloyd’s first full season in two years, and he is ready to score some tries.

“I’m really excited for this season. It’s my first full season back after two years away, so I’m keen to see what we can do as a squad. And, obviously, I’m looking forward to scoring tries every week.”

Lloyd is ready to leave everything out on the pitch for Heol-y-Cyw. With passion in his heart and fire in his game, he is raring to go and determined to make every moment count.
